The Wax Battle: Drugstore Hot Wax "Glam Works Hot Wax" vs. "Epilin Hot Wax"

Hello Lovelies!!
Raw Image from: http://www.mycupoftea.rs/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/waxedit-970x610.jpg

Been weeks since I last updated my blog. Lot of things happened both sad and happy. Just lost a cousin a day before my birthday (so bitter-sweet ಥ /\ ಥ" ) but at least he's with our Lord now ♥.

Anyway, moving forward, being a constant supporter of Watsons & of Mercury Drugs, I tend to get all my essentials there, except for my moisturizers and oils (will talk about that soon *wink*), and that being said--even my DIY Hot Wax Kit.

Since I gave up my trip to my favorite waxing salon, due to financial thriftiness and lack of time (long waiting hours lovelies just for a session), I begun my journey to the DIY World, I started with cold waxes--didn't work for me, sorry--then with hesitation I bought two hot wax brands: Epilin & Glam Works, and here are my reviews:

Epilin Hair Remover
What? Epilin Hair Remover
How Much? 89 Php / 1.75 $
Where? Watsons
Pros:
  • BEESWAX!!!
  • Didn't hardened so easily (no need to re-heat every now and then)
  • Effective in removing hair (sticks to the hair, not on skin)
  • Didn't harm my sensitive armpit skin (except for the mild burn, so be careful, check before applying)
  • Affordable
  • Kudos for the instruction
  • Easy to find
Cons:
  • In terms of hygiene, the packaging is too expose. You need wrap the whole pan with a cling film in order to use it again for the wax is attached to the pan already.
  • Since the wax is on the pan already, you can't melt the wax by portion. Therefore, you really have to invest time to heat it on your stove or in your oven toaster.
Tip:
To avoid burning the wax pan, that can lead to ruining it, boil a small amount of water on a small saucepan in low heat stove setting, then when the water is hot already put your wax pan on it. Just avoid getting any water on your wax, to retain its consistency.

Will I buy again? Yes
Recommend? Yes

Glam Works

What? Glam Works Hair Removal Hot Wax Kit
How Much? 69 Php / 1.36 $
Where? Watsons
Pros:
  • Two wax packages (both concealed, very hygienic)!
  • Can be melted by portion, so you can use it longer!
  • Much cheaper
  • Easy to melt. I only use candles. (Warning: Don't play with fire!)
  • Kudos for the instruction
  • Easy to find
Cons:
  • Easy to melt and easy to hardened also. Requires, reheating every now and then.
  • Since it hardens easily, you need to apply it with less cooling time, therefore, you need tolerate the mild (or not so mild) burns MORE.
  • When applied, be sure to give it 30 seconds to 1 minute max to cool on your skin because if exceeded it becomes brittle.
  • It can remove hair but not as effective as Epilin.
Tip:
Make sure you have your candle and match at hand, cos this baby sure hardens fast.

Will I buy again? Yes? If Epilin is not available
Recommend? Yes , if you want cheaper Hot Wax DIY Kit

Reminder: DIY Waxing tends to be messy and time consuming, it kinda takes time to get the hang of it, however, once mastered, say hello to your savings! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
BUT, a big BUT, if you're still reluctant and have the financial ability to go to waxing salons, I very-very-VERY much advise you to do so, because they can definitely save you the hassle and the mess for a price and yes, they are PROS. *wink*

Hello Lovelies!! This review is like an updated review version of my previous post on my  IG account .  Being thrifty, I tend to search for DIY's when it comes to that time of the month wherein my "visitor" a.k.a menstruation visits me with a friend named pimple or sometimes zit. My research lead me to knowing this product: Katialis. :) What:   Katialis Price:   small-25Php large-40 Php Where did I bought it?  Local Drugstore & Mercury Drugs Ingredients : Precipitated Sulfur - a form of sulfur used in treating skin diseases, has a keratolytic effect that promotes peeling of the skin. Zinc Oxid e - a mineral used to threat skin rashes, itching, minor burn & other skin irritation. Not anti-bacteria. Resorcinol - used to treat acne. Salicylic Acid - known to fight pimple & great for exfoliating skin. It has a yellow-greenish-grey color (that color though!) with a cream-powdery consistency and smells like Fissan Foot Powd

The 65g Budget Pack of Silka Whitening Herbal Soap What?  Silka Whitening Herbal Soap How Much?  16 Php / 0.31 $ Where?  Leading supermarkets & drugstores Rear Portion: Ingredients & Description Ingredients:  Sodium Palmitate/ Sodium Palm Kernelate  - based on what I gather, these two are both cleansing agent--being sodium but, in high amount can be a skin irritant because they strip off oil from the skin. :( Salicylic Acid   - known to fight pimple & great for exfoliating skin. Mineral Oil  - hhhmmmmmm Carica Papaya Enzyme  - exfoliating dead skin cells. Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate  - Vitamin E!! Finally! A moisturizer! The Verdict... Pros: Affordable. 16 pesos guys!! 16!! Hello Lovelies!! As my journey to finding the best soap for my face and my body continues, it led me to this product: Skin White Whitening Soap .
